Donald Earle Jordal - burial

Donald Earle Jordal, great grandson of Sigri Gunnersdatter and Ole Larson was born August 9, 1930 to Mabel Odith (Berg) and Omer O Jordal in DeKalb county, Illinois.    He married Donna Marilyn Stoddard on February 19, 1955.

Donald passed away July 11, 2004, in Malta, DeKalb county, Illinois.    He was buried at the First Lutheran Cemetery in Lee county, Illinois.   Here is a photo of his grave marker.

Gilbert Eugene Oleson Jr - burial

Gilbert Eugene Oleson Jr was born to Sylvia Anna (Jordal) and Gilbert Eugene Oleson on June 28, 1925 in Madison, Lac qui parle county, Minnesota.

Gilbert married Thelma Humphreys on June 26, 1954 in DeKalb, DeKalb county, Illinois.  

Gilbert passed away July 5, 1999 in DeKalb, DeKalb county, Illinois and his wife Thelma passed away a few years later on July 6, 2007, also in DeKalb.   Here is an obituary* for Thelma.




































Thelma and Gilbert were buried at the First Lutheran Cemetery in Lee, Lee county, Illinois.   Here is a photo of their monument.

Vergene Gloria Jordal was born to Dorothy Jenny (Ahlberg) and Gilbert Orlando Jordal on March 3, 1929 in DeKalb county, Illinois.    She passed away November 3, 1975 in DeKalb county and was buried at the Malta Cemetery in DeKalb county.

Michael Arthur Byro, great great grandson of Sigri Gunnersdatter and Ole Larson was born March 7, 1960 (most likely in DeKalb or Lee county, Illinois) to Janice Elaine (Jordal) and Arthur Byro.

Michael passed away August 24, 1968 (again, most likely in DeKalb or Lee county, Illinois) and was buried at the Malta Cemetery in Malta, DeKalb county, Illinois.

Edith married Carl M Larson on July 5, 1928 in St Louis, Missouri.   Carl was born March 12, 1907 in DeKalb county, Illinois to Carrie and Charles Larson.

Carl passed away November 12, 1991 in DeKalb county, Illinois.   Edith having outlived her siblings and cousins passed away June 10, 2001.  

Edith and Carl Larson were buried at the Elmwood Cemetery in Sycamore, DeKalb county, Illinois.

Evelyn (Jordal) Preiss - burial

Evelyn Preiss, granddaughter of Sigri Gunnersdatter and Ole Larson was born April 22, 1918 in Milan township, DeKalb county, Illinois.   Evelyn was the last child born to Ingeborg (Haldorsdatter Mæland) and Omund Jordal.

Evelyn married Charles Harrison Preiss on May 4, 1940.   Charles was born February 26, 1911 in Illinois to Anna and Jacob Preiss.   

Charles passed away January 1, 1982 in DeKalb county, Illinois.   Evelyn passed away December 28, 2000 in DeKalb, DeKalb county, Illinois.   They were buried at the Malta Cemetery in Malta, DeKalb county, Illinois.

Lillian Thea (Jordal) Finnestad - burial

My grandmother, Lillian Finnestad, granddaughter of Sigri Gunnersdatter and Ole Larson was buried at the Woodlawn Cemetery (aka Brodie's Grove) northeast of Creston, Ogle county, Illinois.

Lillian, daughter of Ingeborg (Haldorsdatter Mæland) and Omund Jordal married Kenneth Christopher Finnestad on May 2, 1936 in Geneva, Kane county, Illinois.

Kenneth was born on September 18, 1913, to Mary (Kurth) and Oliver Finnestad in Lynnville township, Ogle county, Illinois.   

Kenneth passed away May 16, 1996 in DeKalb, DeKalb county, Illinois.   Lillian passed away January 6, 2000 in Franklin Grove, Lee county, Illinois.

Ernest O Jordal - burial

Ernest O Jordal, grandson of Sigri Gunnersdatter and Ole Larson was born January 19, 1905 in Milan township, DeKalb county, Illinois to Ingeborg (Haldorsdatter Mæland) and Omund Jordal.

Ernest married Marguerite Preiss on October 10, 1925.   Marguerite was born (probably) in Malta, DeKalb county, Illinois in 1908 to Anna (Heinbert) and Jacob Preiss.   Marguerite passed away in 1966.

Sometime following the death of Marguerite, Ernest married a second time, to Christine A (Jacobson) Youngren, who had also lost a spouse, Ernest S Youngren.

Ernest Jordal passed away March 6, 1999 in Franklin Grove, Lee county, Illinois.   Marguerite and Ernest were buried at the Malta Cemetery in Malta, DeKalb county, Illinois.

Christine was born January 6, 1907 in Shabbona, DeKalb county, Illinois to Carrie and Jacob Jacobson.  

Christine passed away in October 1977 in Creston, Ogle county, Illinois.  Christine is buried with her first husband, Ernest S Youngren in Fairview Cemetery in DeKalb, Illinois.

Silas O Jordal - burial

Silas O Jordal, grandson of Sigri Gunnersdatter and Ole Larson was born April 26, 1907 in Milan township, DeKalb, county, Illinois to Ingeborg (Haldorsdatter Mæland) and Omund Jordal.


Silas married Margaret Josephine Hall on March 27, 1937 in Hinckley, DeKalb county, Illinois.  Margaret was born in Illinois on June 25, 1914 to Hulda Sophia (Dalhquist) and Anders (Andrew) August Hall.  


Margaret  passed away February 12, 1996 in DeKalb, DeKalb county, Illinois.  Silas passed away February 9, 1994 in Shabbona, DeKalb county, Illinois.   The Jordals were buried at the Elmwood Cemetery in Sycamore, DeKalb county, Illinois.

Agnes Viola (Jordal) Nelson - burial

Agnes Viola Nelson, granddaughter of Sigri Gunnersdatter and Ole Larson was born April 9, 1909 in Milan township, DeKalb county, Illinois to Ingeborg (Haldorsdatter Mæland) and Omund Jordal.

Agnes married Clarence P Nelson on September 10, 1927.   Clarence may have been born in Alto township, Lee county, Illinois on September 26, 1904 to Hilda and Peter Nelson.   The baptism record indicates "Perry Clarence", though a confirmation record states "Clarence Peter".  It could be possible it is a different person.    

Agnes passed away December 24, 1989 in Rockford, Winnebago county, Illinois.  Clarence died in Rockford on December 11, 1961.      The Nelson's were buried at the Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery in Rockford.

Gordon Edward Jordal - burial

Gordon Edward Jordal, grandson of Sigri Gunnersdatter and Ole Larson was born in Milan township, DeKalb county, Illinois on November 14, 1913 to Ingeborg (Haldorsdatter Mæland) and Omund Jordal.

Gordon married Delores E Falconi sometime after May 1952.   Delores was born May 7, 1925 and passed away May 25, 1999 in DeKalb, DeKalb county, Illinois.

Gordon passed away September 10, 1986, also in DeKalb.   Delores and Gordon were buried at Fairview Cemetery in DeKalb.

Martha Svenia (Jordal) Askeland - burial

Martha Svenia Askeland, granddaughter of Sigri Gunnersdatter and Ole Larson was born September 7, 1903 in Milan township, DeKalb county, Illinois to Anna (Larson Jossendal) and Gunder Jordal.

Martha married Adolph Askeland in Creston, Ogle county, Illinois on her birthday, September 7, 1927.  Adolph was born November 18, 1900 in Illinois to Thea and Ole Askeland.

Strangely, Martha passed away, also on her birthday, September 7, 1985 in Sycamore, DeKalb county, Illinois.   Adolph passed away November 1, 1979 in Illinois.    Martha and Adolph were buried at Woodlawn cemetery (also known as Brodie's Grove) northeast of Creston, Ogle county, Illinois.

Omer O Jordal - burial

Omer O Jordal, grandson of Sigri Gunnersdatter and Ole Larson was born October 19, 1902 in Milan township, DeKalb, county, Illinois to Ingeborg (Haldorsdatter Mæland) and Omund Jordal.

Omer married Mabel Odith Berg on July 2, 1927.   Mabel was born March 16, 1905 in Illinois to Martha and Andrew Berg.

Martha passed away in Illinois in January 1982.  Omer passed away in Malta, DeKalb county, Illinois on January 18, 1984.   Martha and Omer were buried at the First Lutheran Church in Lee county, Illinois.
