Oden Brown Jordal baptism

Oden Brown Jordal was baptized at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Steward, Lee county, Illinois on September 27, 1914.    The entry for his baptism can be found on line 15.


The record states Oden's birthdate as August 6, 1914.     Oden Brown Jordal was the son of Elizabeth (Brown) and Ole L Jordal, the grandson of Isabelle (Halverson) and Lars Jordal and great grandson of Sigri Gunnersdatter and Ole Larson.

The Methodist Episcopal Church still stands today and is located at 507 Main Street.   It is currently named the Steward United Methodist Church.   A little bit of history about the church can be found here.  Scroll down to the bottom and look for 'Steward Methodist Church'.

1950 US Census - Ernest O Jordal

Here is the 1950 US Census for Ernest O Jordal, wife Marguerite (Preiss) and their two youngest daughters, Janice Elaine and Nancy Ann living in South Grove Township, DeKalb county, Illinois.


The Jordal family can be found on lines 7 - 10 of the US Census.    Ernest was employed as a farmer.

An interesting note:   Marguerite's brother Max Preiss was living next door to Verlis Finnestad, the brother of Kenneth Finnestad who was the husband of Ernest's sister, Lillian Jordal.   Another Preiss connection:  Ernest and Lillian's youngest sister, Evelyn Jordal was married to Marguerite and Max's brother, Charles Preiss.  A very small world with many entwining relationships.

Celia Berthana (Jordal) Oleson - Obituary

Celia Berthana (Jordal) Oleson was born November 29, 1894 in Willow Creek Township, Lee County, Illinois.    She married Bennie Elmer Oleson on July 23, 1926 though I do not know the place of marriage. Celia died in Franklin Grove, Lee County, Illinois on May 8, 1972.

Her obituary appeared on page 4 of the May 9, 1972 edition of the Dixon Evening Telegraph.



Celia Berthana (Jordal) Oleson was the first child born to Ingeborg (Haldorsdatter Mæland) and Omund Jordal.   She was the granddaughter of Sigri Gunnersdatter and Ole Larson.

Omer O Jordal - Marriage

Omer O Jordal married Mabel Odith Berg in Lee County, Illinois at the First Lutheran Church on July 2, 1927.    The announcement of their marriage was published on the second page of the Earlville Leader in their July 14, 1927 edition.





Omer Jordal was the fifth child and 4th son born to Ingebor (Haldorsdatter Mæland) and Omund Olson Jordal and grandson of Sigri Gunnersdatter and Ole Larson.

Gordon Jordal - Marriage

Gordon Edward Jordal married Delores Eileen Falconi in Springfield, Sangamon County, Illinois on September 24, 1958.

The Hamilton Daily News Journal published the announcement of their marriage on the 7th page of their October 8, 1958 edition.
