Omund Jorda and Ingebor (Haldorsdatter Mæland)

Here is a xerox copy* of a photo of Ingeborg (Haldorsdatter Mæland), daughter of Brita (Sjursdatter) and Haldor Nilsson and Omund Jordal, son of Sigri Gunnersdatter and Ole Larson.

I do not know when this photo was taken, though if it were a wedding photo it would have been March 17, 1894.

Ingeborg (Haldorsdatter Mæland) Jordal

Here is a xerox copy* of a photo of Ingeborg (Haldorsdatter Mæland) Jordal and Mrs. Jacob Selgistad on the right.   

I do not know the relationship of Mrs. Jacob Selgistad to Ingeborg.   Gilbert Jordal was the son of Anna (Larsdatter Jossendal) and Gunder Jordal and the nephew of Ingeborg and Omund Jordal.  He is not in the photo so the description would indicate this photo came from the collection of the Gunder Jordal family.

If this photo was taken prior to March 17, 1894, Ingeborg had not yet married Omund.    I have only seen a 4 photos of Ingeborg, including this one.     If anyone has family photos from the Jordal line, please contact me.

Ingeborg (Haldorsdatter Mæland) Jordal - death certificate

Ingeborg (Haldorsdatter Mæland) Jordal, wife of Omund Jordal, daughter of Brita (Sjursdatter) and Haldor Nilsson was born July 1, 1869 on the Mæland farm, municipality of Ullensvang, Hordaland County, Norway.    Ingeborg passed away January 11, 1958 in Waterman, DeKalb county, Illinois.

Here is the only (clear) photo I have of my great grandparents, Ingebor (Haldorsdatter Mæland) & Omund Jordal.

My guess is that this photo was taken in the late 1940's or early 1950's, probably at their residence in DeKalb, Illinois.

Omund Jordal - burial

Omund Jordal, son of Sigri Gunnersdatter and Ole Larson was buried at the First Lutheran Church cemetery in Lee county, Illinois.

Mæland Family Tree

I have created a family tree for the paternal side of my great grandmother, Ingeborg (Haldorsdatter Mæland) Jordal, wife of Omund Jordal.      The tree (so far) goes back to 1711, documenting Ingeborg's great great great grandfather, Asbjorn Brynjulfson.    Asbjorn would be my great great great great great great grandfather.

Ingeborg (Haldorsdatter Mæland) Jordal - obituary

Here is the obituary* for my great grandmother, Ingeborg Jordal, daughter-in-law of Sigri Gunnersdatter and Ole Larson.

Ingeborg was born in Mæland, Ullensvang parish, Hordaland county, Norway on March 28, 1875 to Brita Sjursdatter and Haldor Nilsson.   She emigrated to the United States in 1893 and married my great grandfather, Omund Jordal on March 17, 1894 in Dixon, Lee county, Illinois.

Ingeborg passed away at the age of 82 on January 11, 1958.

Jordal Family Reunion - DeKalb, Illinois

Here is the only photo of I have of my great grandparents, Ingeborg (Haldorsdatter Mæland) and Omund Jordal.

This photo was taken at the Jordal Family reunion at Hopkins Park in DeKalb, Illinois.   The photo was probably taken in the 1950's.    Unfortunately the photo has been damaged and the face of Ingeborg is not clear.
