1950 US Census - Ole Jordal

Here is the 1950 US Census for Ole Jordal, living in Willow Creek township, Lee county, Illinois with his wife, Elizabeth (Brown).    Their entries can be found on lines 27 and 28.

Ole was retired at the time of this census on April 10, 1950.   He would pass away two months later on June 10, 1950.    

was the son of Isabelle (Sigursdatter) and Lars Jordal and grandson of Sigri Gunnersdatter and Ole Larson.

Ole L Jordal - confirmation

I do not have not yet received First Lutheran Church of Lee, Illinois records beyond 1908 so the baptism records for Alfred Clarence Jordal the youngest child of Anna (Larson Jossendal) and Gunder Jordal or the last 5 children (Agnes, Kinnie, Gordon, Lillian and Evelyn) of my great grandparents, Ingeborg (Haldorsdatter Mæland) and Omund Jordal so I'll move onto the few confirmation records available.

Here is the confirmation record for Ole L Jordal (#3) grandson of Sigri Gunnersdatter and Ole Larson.

Ole, son of  Isabelle Cordelia (Halvorson)* and Lars Jordal was confirmed May 10, 1891.

*Isabelle was born in Illinois; had she been born in Norway, her last name would have been that of her father's first name, Sigursdatter.    The First Lutheran records have alternated between Sigursdatter and Halvorson, which may have been common at the time.

Here is the baptism record for Ole L Jordal (line #3), grandson of Sigri Sigursdatter and Ole Larson.

The second page includes the names of witnesses, none of which are known relatives on the Jordal side.   The siblings of Lars that eventually moved from Norway to the United States would not have occurred for another few years.    Ingeborg Halvorson listed was Isabelle's mother.

Ole was the first child born to Isabelle Cordelia (Halvorson) and Lars Jordal.     The church records states he was born December 30, 1875 and baptized a month later on January 30, 1876**.

**Historical records are filled with inaccuracies.  The funeral record indicates Ole was born December 31 1875.

Ole Jordal - Last Will and Testament

Sigri Gunnersdatter and Ole Larson's grandson passed away June 10, 1950*.    His Last Will & Testament was filed in probate court on December 23, 1950.

Ole was the son of Isabelle (Halvorson) and Lars Jordal.

*The death date listed of June 6, 1950 date is incorrect.

Ole Jordal - funeral

Here is the Calvary Lutheran Church* funeral register for Ole Jordal, grandson of Sigri Gunnersdatter and Ole Larson.

For an unexplained reason, Ole Jordal, son of Isabelle (Halvorson) and Lars Jordal was buried September 10, 1950, three months after his death.

Ole Jordal - burial

Ole Jordal, grandson of Sigri Gunnersdatter and Ole Larson was born December 31, 1875 in Lee county, Illinois.

Ole married Elizabeth 'Lizzie' Brown on March 11, 1903.

Having spent his entire life in Lee county, Ole passed away on June 10, 1950 and was buried at the Union cemetery next to the Calvary Lutheran Church in northern Lee county.

Elizabeth was born October 21, 1882 to Martha and Albert Brown in Illinois.   Lizzie died March 1970 in Lee, Illinois.

Ole was the eldest son born to Isabelle (Halvorson) and Lars Jordal.

The property of Ole Jordal, grandson of Sigri Gunnersdatter and Ole Larson can be seen in the lower right portion of quadrant 13.     Despite the Great Depression of 1929, Ole Jordal was able to hold onto his property, unlike many others that were taken over by mortgage companies, banks and life insurance companies.

Ole was the son of Isabelle (Halvorson) and Lars Jordal.

Ole was living in Alto township, Lee county, Illinois with wife Elizabeth (Brown) and their sons, Lavern, Milo and Oden.

Ole was the son of Isabelle (Halverson) and Lars Jordal.

Yesterday I posted the Alto township plat map for the grandson of Sigri Gunnersdatter and Ole Larson, Ole Jordal.   Here is a photo of the property as it looked a couple of months ago - just cornfields. 

This is a view looking northwest from Hermann Road at County Line Road.    According to the plat map the house would have been near the corner but it no longer exists.

Ole Jordal was the eldest son of Isabelle (Halvorson) and Lars Jordal.

The plot of land owned by Ole Jordal, the grandson of Sigri Gunnersdatter and Ole Larson is located in quadrant 13.   Ole Jordal was the eldest son of Isabelle (Halvorson) and Lars Jordal.

Here is the 1920 US Census for Sigri Gunnersdatter and Ole Larson's grandson, Ole Jordal.

Ole was living in Alto township, Lee county, Illinois with wife Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Brown) and their three sons, Lavern, Milo and Oden.   Also residing with the Jordal family as a boarder was Frank Brown.

Ole was the eldest child of Isabelle (Halvorson) and Lars Jordal.

Sigri Gunnersdatter and Ole Larson's grandson, Ole L Jordal completed his draft registration for World War I on September 12, 1918.

Ole was the son of Isabelle (Halverson) and Lars Jordal.

1910 US Census - Ole L Jordal

Here is the 1910 US Census for Sigri Gunnersdatter and Ole Larson's grandson, Ole L Jordal.

Ole, the son of Isabelle (Halverson) and Lars Jordal, was living in Alto township, Lee county, Illinois with wife Elizabeth (Brown) and their children, LaVern and Milo.   The census indicates LaVern was their daughter, which is an error.  LaVern Amos Jordal was their eldest son.

Coincidentally, another of my blood lines is listed on this census record.    Ole Jordal and family were living next door to my great great grandparents, Caroline (Quitno) and Ole Finnestad Jr. and family.
